My only complaint is the two episodes where Fannie Falls in Love are not on this list at all.
#7 – CNR in Seat #1 instead of Seat #3 That's rare.
Episode 1 – Match Game 78 – Brett and Jack divorced in 1977
Was this Best Of put together before Ron Valenti was on as a contestant. His shows with Fannie Flagg, especially the first one were just thigh slappers. Episodes 497 -501 maybe even to 502. Fannie didn't do all of them but the ones they did were funny. They heated up the stage. Alas, he was married and Fannie was a Lesbian. __
The minute "boobs" was uttered the show was changed for the better.
Actually, Charles' math was wrong on her — $6,550.
But we can probably blame all the other celebs for beating on him. 🙂
Almost fifty years old and entertaining still!!!!
Family fun times.
GAWD Elaine Joyce was the bees' knees. Whew. fans self
i grew up watching match game…fun, fun, fun
It just dawned on me that Kay Ballard kinda resembled jay P Morgan from the Gong Show…
Grey MATTER from the cop. lol
Thank You/ You Tube and MatchGameProductions for putting this out there. No commercials. Great Memories.
im so glad i found this channel because i LOVE match game and i miss GSN which had all the old game shows on it. i also miss the old boomerang cartoon channel, all thats on there now is tom and jerry and new scooby doos. because boomerang means new right? not ya know, bringing something back from the past or anything lol.
TV doesn't get any better than this.
Some guy got to wake up to Elaine Joyce.
“Arabs must have taken over my bank”. Premonition?!
# 19: I looked up Mary Weinstein, and there is a screenwriter by that name. I wonder if this is the same one.
Here are some episodes that should have been in this top 25:
The episode in which Gene starts fighting with the cameraman.
The episode in which Gene starts to hit the man for not "holding the sign up."
The episode in which Johnny Olson sits in the third seat at the start of the game. Come on, you have to honor Johnny O!
The episode in which the Audience Super Match is Denise BLANK and one of the responses is "and de nephew."
The episode in which Gene compliments Karen Lesko on her nipples.
The episode in which Marcia Wallace gets censored.
I am also surprised that one of the year-change episodes wasn't featured. Goodie-Toddie bird would have been a good one.
While not necessarily funny, here are some memorable episodes:
Kirstie Alley as a contestant before she was on Cheers
Brianne Leary as a contestant before she was on Chips
Brian Billick as a contestant long before he coached the Baltimore Ravens
I loved the Bertha episode. It's the only one in which we get to see Johnny Olson on screen. He brings out the water.
I am kind of surprised that the Karen Lesko "nipples" episode hasn't been here so far.
Did you include the episode with the Denise ____ Super Match? That was so hilairous. Bill Daily helped make it so.
I was hoping to make it through this whole marathon without seeing Joyce Bulifant. I got to #5.
Hans blank. This was before Die Hard, so no one said Hans Gruber.
Out of these 25 episodes, 13 were daily shows (i.e., not MG PM) that were the last episode taped for that week — if I counted correctly. People always say that the "after dinner" episodes were a bit more wild, so I guess this makes sense.
The School Riot episode never ceases to amaze me with how bad the judging was. That question along with the "plastic baggie" question on another episode around the same time were the two worst judging decisions I have seen on any game show.
yes but this is match game 78 dumb doar was so dumb she hade the biggest blanks around
My favorite Match Game episode between 1973-79 included the Knocked Up answer Brett Somers, or shall I say, Audrey Dawn Johnson (Born July 11th, 1924 in Saint John, Canada, and passed away on September 15th, 2007 in Westport, Connecticut, at the age of 82) gave.
Eugen Petr Jelienic was born in Christopher, Illinois on December 22nd, 1917, and passed away in Gloucester, Massachusetts on November 29th, 1999, at the age of 81. God rest his and other souls!!
Elaine Joyce during #24…VA VA VOOOOOM! Absolutely beautiful!
Charles makes every show! He was so great!
Me too.
This is great!! I had to work on Thanksgiving , very glad to see it's still here to watch now.
Wow, that guy on the #2 ranked show was completely robbed of a possible win!
I love Charles.
